The Cities of Cádiz

CÁDIZ

Welcome to Cádiz, the oldest inhabited city in Spain. Ever since its discovery by the Phoenicians three thousand years ago, the region has been fought over, lived upon and visited by many different civilizations and cultures making it a critical location throughout history.

JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA

This internationally known city is famous for its sherry, flamenco, horses and motorcycles.... need I say more?

SANLÚCAR DE BARRAMEDA

EL PUERTO DE SANTA MARÍA

This southern Gaditano town is one of a kind. No other city in Spain has experienced the intense cultural change that this small farming and fishing town has in recent history. Come discover why.

PUEBLOS BLANCOS

Where is Cádiz?

We are located in the southwest of Spain and are one of the 8 autonomous communities located in Andalucía, which is Spain’s most southern province.

The Capital of Cádiz is Cádiz City, which can make things a bit confusing at times.  We have our very own airport in Jerez de la Frontera and are about a 1hr45min drive from Seville, although the train is usually the better bet.

Morocco is just a short distance from our coast, 13km (8 miles), and we even have a lovely ferry that will ferry you back and forth in a little over 30 min.

So, although Cádiz is pretty small and still relatively unknown, we are much more international than people think. We have Europe to our north, Africa to our south  (Morrocco), Portugal to our west, and the UK to our east (the rock of Gibraltar, and parts of Malaga ;)).

Hi, I'm your host!

And this is Discover Costa de la Luz. A small local company that provides culturally fun-filled experiences and events in the province of Cádiz, Spain.

Our mission is to help you have an unforgetable experience while you are here visitng our little corner of the world.

Adriane is an awesome tour guide. Our excursion to Jerez was a wonderful experience made even better by Adriane's guiding. Transportation was first rate in a comfy Mercedes van. Walking Jerez was enjoyable and memorable. At the Tio Pepe Sherry bodega the tour included the highest end ticket with included four different Glasses as well as accompanying tapas. Afterwards were two lovely tapas stops with multiple enjoyable tastes. A really great day! A lovely tour and a lovely guide.

My daughter and I spent a wonderful Monday morning taking in the sights with Adri. She was really interesting and the 2 hours flew by. She managed to source an electric bike for me, as I have dodgy knees! I can’t recommend this experience enough. Thank you Adri x

Excellent tour. Friendly , entertaining and knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Excellent English as she has American parents so no accent. Doesn’t try to overwhelm with facts. She also has a fun personality and you can tell that she was born and raised here and loves the local culture. Again highly recommended.

I booked for 4 people and we all had a wonderful afternoon. Adriane's enthusiasm was infectious and she was fun and knowledgeable. She even laughed convincingly at our silly banter. Particularly valuable were her tips about where to eat and we were grateful when her advice was proven by the fabulous eating experience we had at places we would never have found without her help. We all agreed that choosing a local guide added greatly to the holiday, just wish it could be Adriane every time.
